Circus Babies | Ages 8 mos to 2½ years old

Enjoy a fun filled, sweet class for you and your precious little Circus Baby! This once a week, 50 minute, family oriented class is designed for little ones and their parent, loved one, or caregiver, which will include songs, simple games, play, movement and more all centered around a Circus theme. We will have lots of fun, child centered activities that will focus on gross motor skills, coordination, strength and flexibility all done through play at each child's own developmental and age appropriate level!

With hula hoops to crawl through, little silks to blow, bean bags to toss, lots of funny songs to sing, and more, your little one and you will be filled with joy and laughter as we have fun at the Circus at Soul! A special circus surprise for your little one is included with Pre-Registration Purchase!

Sibling Rate: $60 for all siblings over 8 months old. Choose Sibling Rate pass after booking the class or pay when you come for your first class!

Circus Ponies | Ages 2½ to 4 years old

Calling all active little Circus Ponies to come skip, gallop, and trot in the fun and interactive circus themed creative movement class for 2 1/2 - 4 year olds! Circus Ponies will delight children as they dance, wiggle and sing while teaching movement to increase their gross motor skills, coordination, balance, flexibility, and more! Your child will never want to leave this exciting class and may just want to join the circus!

Hula-Hoopla! | Ages 6 to 10, Ages 11+

Here we offer an outlet to release additional energy while learning a new skill to show off to our friends and family! We will shake, stretch & spin in circles as Mrs. Buttons teaches us the ins & outs of hula-hooping! This class offers a fun filled way to work together, improve coordination and balance as well as learning to laugh at ourselves, cause we can be silly! Children’s Hoops will be provided.

Dance Explorers | Ages 6 to 9, 10+

Come join this fun dance class with Nikki! She will take kids through various forms of dance and explore Jazz, Lyrical, Broadway and more! This is the perfect class for kids who love to dance and just want to enjoy moving and learning about it all! Come explore dance with us and have a blast with your friends!

Under the Big Top | Ages 8 to 12 & Ages 13+

Run away with the circus in RVA with this amazing circus arts class filled with lots of fun, excitement and silliness! Students will learn the amazing circus tricks like juggling, diabalo, walking on a globe, performance skills, magic, basic acrobatics and much more! The curriculum is designed for students to work with different instructors for weeks at a time while learning new skills and experiencing all that circus arts has to offer. A class instructor schedule and curriculum will be given at the beginning of each session. Get ready to have some fun and run away with the circus at Soul!

Kids Aerial Hammock | Ages 8 to 15

Come learn the basic techniques of soaring in the air in an Aerial Silk Hammock. This class will introduce students to a variety of new aerial skills using flexibility, strength, coordination and spatial awareness. This class is best suited for children who already have some current dance or gymnastics background.

Fairy & Dragon Flying School | Ages 4 to teen

Want to learn to fly and soar through the air? Come join our Fairy & Dragon Flying Pre-Aerial Classes to gain the flexibility, line, spatial awareness and conditioning it takes to fly through the air. Children will take classes to work on becoming ready to fly in our aerial program. We want to ensure the safety and proper alignment and development it takes for children to move in the air. Our program is specifically designed with to increase the stamina, strength and flexibility it takes to work in an Aerial Hammock or Lyra. Classes will be filled with fun dance and gymnastics based training exercises, games and more and by the end a chance to start working towards new heights! Classes are broken up into age groups of 4 to 6, 7 to 9, 10 to 13, 14 to 17

Budokids | Ages 8 to 11

Budokon is a 'mixed movement art', combining yoga, mixed martial arts and primal movement into an entirely new and unique art form. Budokids is a high energy class drawing from the Budokon Arts, focusing on techniques that develop balance, coordination, agility, strength, and flexibility preparing students to take on any future athletic endeavors while learning the lessons of hard work and focus. Students can expect a wide variety of movements, with new surprises every class.

Budokids | Ages 12+

Budokon is a 'mixed movement art', combining yoga, mixed martial arts and primal movement into an entirely new and unique art form. Budokids is a high energy class drawing from the Budokon Arts, focusing on techniques that develop balance, coordination, agility, strength, flexibility, and body control. Our students 12 and older will begin to look at the techniques in detail to develop an advanced knowledge of body mechanics, cultivating a foundation for individual expression.

Musical Theater for Kids! | Ages 10+

Hurray for Broadway! Musical Theater for kids is a jam-packed class of Singing, Acting and Dancing! This class will work on voice, dance & movement, improvisation techniques, monologues, stage directions and so much more! Kids who are looking to try out Musical Theater and think they may want to be on the stage, this is the class for them!

Hoop Dance

Level 1: Hoop Dance Basics - Finding your place inside a Hoop

This is a beginner level class that introduces you to Hoop Dance Basics. Haven’t picked up a hoop since you were 10? No problem! Come join in on the fun and learn something new!

Level 2: Hoop Dance Basics – Moving Inside & Out

You’ve become comfortable inside the hoop so now “Lets Take It Off!” This class focuses on moving in & out to extend your movements while manipulating the hoop.

Level 3: Hoop Dance Basics – Finding your Flow

In this class we begin to add a personalized flow to your dance as we combine all basic movements and work through transitions.

Hoop Fitness with Bitsy!

Hooping is a cardio exercise that improves your core strength and tones your stomach, arms, thighs and derriere! This is a low-impact, high-energy workout that can burn approximately 300 - 500 calories an hour! This form of exercise is known to increase ones self-esteem (& libido!) and encourages laughter and smiles, all while improving coordination, posture and balance! Who said fitness can’t be fun? Fitness Hoops will be provided.

Advanced Hip Hop

This fast paced dance class is for the advanced or professional level dancer. This class will focus on high energy, complex choreography and sharp innovative technique.

Bellydance

Come learn the beautiful and sensual art of bellydance with RVA's one and only international instructor, Madame Onça! Bellydance is a graceful, joyful, sensual way to explore your natural femininity. This class will focus on the fun and will explore a wide range of movements that make bellydance look good and feel good on every body type.

Capoeira Angola

Capoeira Angola is an Afro-Brazilian cultural art form that was developed by enslaved Africans who were brought to Brazil. The art form was developed in secrecy as a means to preserve cultural expressions and means of a self-defense. The martial art blends dance, acrobatics, music, singing, historical traditions, & philosophy. In class we will study and practice all of these components that make Capoeira Angola the beautiful art form it is.

Acro Yoga

Acro Yoga is a great way to work with others while incorporating yoga and acrobatic fundamentals in a fun and friendly environment! Come be a kid again while you flip, turn, stretch and breathe learning the basics of Acro Yoga!

Pre- Aerial Stretch & Flex

Not ready to fly and soar through the air just yet? Come join this class and gain the flexibility, body awareness, strength and conditioning it takes to fly through the air. Our program is specifically designed with to increase the stamina needed to work in an Aerial Hammock, Lyra or Pole. Classes will be filled with fun dance, gymnastics and yoga based training exercises coupled with slow progressive movements and by the end a chance to start working towards new heights!

Aerial Hammock

Aerial Hammock is designed to build flexibility, core and arm strength as well as body awareness to execute aerial skills and tricks in a fabric hammock. The class will focus on static movement, individual tricks and creative flow. As students gain the vocabulary of the class, students will focus on musicality and quality of movement to become a better performer.

Lyra

Lyra is designed to work on various techniques to enter and exit the hoop along with conditioning exercises. Classes will build strength, showcase flexibility and teach flips, turns, rolls, and transitions. Classes will progress into fluid choreographed sequences.

Adult Tap

Let's make some noise with this fun Tap Class! From learning the basics to more complicated rhythms, Flynn will have your feet moving to the beat in no time! This class is for all levels, and tap is based in Broadway & rhythmical techniques.

Pole Classes

Pole Level 1

Classes at this level will incorporate floor work, dance, spinning moves, static upright poses, basic climbs and conditioning to prepare for inversions. There is no inverting at this level when the student’s entire body is on the pole. Classes may use both spinning and static poles.

Pole Level 2

Classes at this level will incorporate inversions from the ground, descending inversions, climb variations, intermediate spins, and floor work combinations. The student’s body will maintain 3 points of contact with the pole while inverted. Classes will build on transitional fluidity as well as preparations for more advanced spins and pole dismounts. Classes may use both spin and static poles.

Pole Level 3

Classes at this level will incorporate inversions from the ground, descending inversions, aerial inversions, one-handed spins, advanced climb and floorwork combinations. The student’s body will maintain 3 points of contact with the pole while inverted and transition into tumbles. Classes will build on character development and audience engagement. Classes may use both spinning and static poles.

Pole Level 4

Classes at this level will incorporate aerial, descending, and spinning inversions. The student’s body will maintain 1 or 2 points of contact while inverted on the pole for a minimum of 2 combinations in each class. Classes will build on deep flexibility and harnessing momentum. Classes may use both spinning and static poles.

Pole Pro

Classes at this level will incorporate aerial, descending, and spinning inversions. The student’s body will maintain 1 or 2 points of contact while inverted on the pole. Classes will focus on recent performances by industry professionals and student requests. Approval by instructor required to attend. Classes may use both spinning and static poles.

Poleography

Classes will include a longer warm up incorporating cardio, deep stretching and flexibility training. The stylized class will focus on choreography and fluid movements to put together a piece which can be performed at the end of class. The choreography will use elements of dance and performance technique, dynamics, musicality, and pole work to create a piece which will be fun and challenge all levels of dancer. Styles of choreography taught may vary by instructor.

* = This is a side note for each "poleography" class listed on schedule. Each teacher teaches a different style and we want to keep the schedule easy to read, yet make sure clients can see what each teacher may be teaching so we can provide variety and make sure everyone has a blast exploring different styles.

* Contemporary Pole -- Classes will work on blending contemporary dance (ballet, modern and jazz) with pole work will create a dynamic flowing class where the student will work on floor work transitions and flow on and off the pole. This class will be heavily based in dance technique fundamentals focusing on line and body and spacial awareness blending musicality and rhythmical elements to give style and form to choreographic work on and off the pole. The class is geared towards beginners and welcomes all levels of dancer.

*Hip Hop/Sexy Jazz Pole -- Classes will work on blending basic pole work with an energetic, sexy, fun hip hop or sexy jazz dance style. This class will be based in hip hop or jazz dance techniques where the pole will be used for fun and exciting transitions and sexy performance work. Get ready to get your heart pumping and show off your inner siren in this class!

*Exotic Pole - Class will work on sensual and sexy exotic flows and techniques. Get ready to roll those hips and flick that hair. Heels welcome, but not required.

Dance Technique & Fundamentals For Pole

This class is geared for the pole dancer who wants to work on their line and technical form. Based in basic ballet, jazz and modern techniques, this class will focus on the fine art of creating beautiful lines and body alignment on and off the pole. Strength, flexibility and proper form will be the highlights of this class working on body awareness and placement. A great class for those who have no formal dance training and want to learn how to create long beautiful lines and shapes or trained dancers looking to perfect their technique, line and form.
